So I mentioned last time (which was months and months and months ago; sorry!) that I was about to throw myself into some solo game development... And indeed I did! And I'm pleased to say that I am still very much in the midst of the task, and that whilst it's proven a lot more complicated than I'd originally thought, it has not dampened my spirits in the slightest. I'll be sure to post a more robust summary of 'Aubgerine' in the very-very-near future, but for now I'll simply say that it is a 2D Horizontal Scrolling Shmup being developed in Construct 2 for the PC. The game's mechanics, characters, world, style and everything else have undergone some serious changes and overhauls but I've managed to find my way to something that I'm very happy with, and that feels uniquely mine. There's a lot of work to be done (and a lot of changes and overhauls still to come) but in the exercise of 'game design: hot or cold' I'd say I've definitely moved from 'tepid' to 'warm'. Which means I'm now a LOT more comfortable posting updates in regards to my progress and development, so I suspect those sorts of things will now begin to pop up here. I must admit that I tend to dislike showing unfinished work but I'm endeavoring to make some changes to how I go about creative development. Also, whilst I'm in the throws of all this game design business I fully intend to explore exactly how it is that I approach the medium via some short to medium length ramblings on the topic(s). I have my first collection of musings roughly 80% complete so with some tweaking here and there it should be posted soon. So hopefully, with all that and my fancy new logo in check, this should be a good sign of things to come.
